Pancake Day is always on a Tuesday in February or March. In 2017 Pancake Day is on 28 th February.Pancake Day is also called Shrove Tuesday or Fat Tuesday. It is a celebration in many English speaking countries like The UK, Ireland, Australia and Canada. It is the day before Ash Wednesday the sta rt of Lent. Lent is a period of 40 days before Easter when people many people didn’t eat rich foods like butter and eggs, so Traditionally on this day people made pancakes from these ingredients. P ancakes are thin, flat cakes made in a pan. Another tradition on Pancake Day in the UK is pancake racing. People run with frying pans race through the streets tossing pancakes into the air and catching them in the pan while running. In some pancake races people dress up in fancy dress costumes.
